Top Tips for a Successful Photoshoot
Go for a walk
While photoshoots are a good walk (and brain workout) for your dog, taking your dog for a walk before their session ensures they are more settled. Photoshoots generally take place in publicly accessible areas, so bringing your dog for a walk beforehand can help them relax into a new environment - especially if you have a high energy or nervous dog.
Bring a treat
Alli always has a full pocket of gravy bones, but if your dog has a favourite toy they will focus on no matter what then bring it along. Sometimes dogs can over-focus on their toys, so don’t be offended if this doesn’t work out and you have to put it away.
Grooming
If your dog goes to the groomers, book this in at least a week in advance so they don’t have the fresh out of the hairdressers look. For fluffier dogs, bring a long a brush on the day to ensure they look their best.
Collars and leads
Don’t worry if your dog can’t go off lead, this can always be edited out later. If your dog walks on a harness or using a face collar we will take this off for the individual photos.
Think about your own clothes
While your pet will be the star of the show, its also important to have some photos with you (or your legs!) in the shot. We can always edit out the dog hair later.
Sit!
You don’t need the best trained dog in the world to have a photoshoot, and even if you do its likely that photoshoot day will be the day they forget it all! Most dogs can sit when treats are involved, and that’s all you need to get a great photo.
Relax
Pets are very good at picking up on your emotions, if you’re worrying they will worry. We’ve chosen a great place for a walk and helping your dog to relax ensures we can get the best photos.
